I guess it's human for anyone to get tired of most things after doing them for some time....I mean, I love my job at the airport, but there're some minor things that make the job....well, not perfect. I suppose nothing is anyway. I won't say much on this....all of us airport guides got our own grouses with, ah, the employer. From pickup times to strictness and attitude toward us....oh speaking of pickup time, mine tomorrow is 0345 hours. Can you believe it? I must wake up like 3am. Funky right?

And I realise I blogged alot about the job, but not alot about the more important stuff, like who I meet there! Think my best friends there are huiyuan abigail joanne larry zhong hao what no....ok, sound kinda retarded listing people out. I'm supposed to say something nice about huiyuan....actually got alot leh =P ah haha the almost 2 hour transit tour we had was like awesome can....ya she is one of the NICEST people to be with there =D and abigail also! That time we went to secret club was REALLY great ^^ Hope we get alot more same shifts and places =) joanne, I like never get posted to same place as you! =.= nevermind, can run over haax....larry is the funniest man there although I only been same place with him once....you must come and make funny faces again ya! Ah hahax

OK I must go and kun now, or I shall be running on brain-nerve electricity and primal instinct tomorrow....it's almost 10pm here in case the clock on blogger screws >.<>

best job I ever had
Monday, January 21, 2008
This airport job is really starting to take off! For one, working at the airport and getting a cool pass that lets you into the transit areas anytime is a great thing. You get a free tour of the transit area! Like the day before was partnered with huiyuan at skytrain B transit and we spent the last like 2 hours roaming around the airport. That day easily makes mi glad I looked into classified and got caught in by "vibrant working environment".

We were like very busy in the first 2-3 hours and could hardly stop to catch our breath. It was only finally when off-peak came that we could slack a little. And we didn't do that, because we slacked quite alot. Huiyuan got very excited when I told her there was this coloring thing at T2 so we went over to play with it. Admittedly it was quite fun really....huiyuan's second picture was beautiful. Then we went up to the sunflower garden...probably one of the best places in the airport. It's full of huge flowers and the planepark (play off the word carpark) is just right outside. Took some pics there and then went back down to walk s-l-o-w-l-y back to T3. We were having such fun we actually got back late and forgot to sign out haax. Time passes really quick when you're having a good time.

And yesterday, Hi 5 (huiyuan, catrin, mi, kent and xiaoyun....we call ourselves that) went over from skytrain A to T2 to try the coloring thing together again. But who decided to show up? The evil CAAS man suddenly appeared and started goofing around so we turned around and started walking robotically back to skytrain station when he called us back. He ticked our names and we were like o.0 getting blacklisted? But he did the same with the person who was supposed to be there anyway so I guess we're safe.

I did expect myself to have fun working at airport, but not this much haax =) hope I'm grouped together with them again! Going to request for all 1st shift XD

airport guide

Switched job over from Robinsons to airport guide....think this is a better job XD much more interactive and it's more interesting walking through the transit malls than the same store every day....terminal 3 transit mall is really great! Pity you can only go in with a ticket or an airport staff pass (which I have and will sell for $3000000000) so most people got to settle for the outside. Still, the layout is nice, though the ceiling decorations could be a little more....outstanding. They're these funny boards that bend in all directions.

The only bad thing comes about when I'm posted to kerbsides....there I got to approach alighting passengers from their vehicles and check if they're in the correct terminal. There was this one guy I approached with my clipboard of flight schedules.
"Excuse mi sir, can I please check your flight destination?"
-"Hong Kong"
"Is it SQ 866?"
-"Yup"
"1330 flight?"
-"Yup....*suddenly gets very excited* why, lucky draw is it? I win something?"

That's kind of refreshing. Here's another.
"Excuse mi sir...."
*with grand pompousness* -"I DON'T WANT to buy"
Isn't this quaint! I'm wearing a bright orange shirt with the words "Airport Guide" scrawled quite clearly infront.
As you can guess, those two passengers were Singaporean.

Angmo people are very nice! When you approach them they'll say "good day young man" or "it's really hot here isn't it? back in England it's still a freezer!"

I think I'm going to miss this job after it finishes in end March....primarily because I'll have to return the staff pass and I won't enjoy $2.50 fried rice and free entry into the transit malls anymore. Oh by the way, go try the airport staff canteen at Terminal 2, stall called the Mixer food land. Don't ask mi why it's called that, it sells fried rice, mee goreng, hor fun, stuff along that line. It rocks! To get the fried rice for $2.50, you can borrow my pass and try to look like mi, or buy it for $3000000000. I hope I got the number of zeroes correct, I just held down the zero button.

happynewyear

Happy new year everyone!
I know I'm late again. Dun need to rub it in.

My new year's day was spent at Robinsons Raffles City, repeatedly asking "may I help you" and listening to one of my colleague's rather senseless babbling, so I guess it wasn't one of my better new years. Nothing much happened over the holidays that I really wanted, save Japan, so they're rather unremarkable.

Of course, with new year, everyone (almost, at least) makes resolutions. I couldn't even remember what I made for last year, let alone accomplish them, but for this year, here goes;
1. have fun at the Airport job
2. stay alive after receiving my A'Level results
3. have fun at the army when I enlist in April
4. will leave this blank till something happens (which is unlikely)
5. accomplish 1 and 2 and 3
there, that should do. I was never a person with very serious (or realistic) goals in life anyway.

Meawhile, all J1s are seeming to have great fun now at their new JCs. Orientation is probably the best part of JC life. Haiz....so many memories....that mean so little now.

Oh and everyone do try Yuki no Yaki at Marina Square, and when they ask you if you would like DIY ice cream, say yes. It's really fantastic, provided you don't get too....creative.
